About us, and our inspiration for Perry Pond cabin

Tom and Suzie are pleased to be able to share the joys of Perry Farm with our guests and new friends at Perry Pond Cabin. 

So about your hosts…..

Suzie hails from a west country farming family having been brought up in Somerset, but found out after moving to Perry that many relations and ancestors farmed in the locality and ran the nearby Bickleigh and Butterleigh Mills. Having had a varied career, and bringing up a family, Suzie is now setting up an import and interior online sales business of Indian homewares and furnishings.

Having escaped to Somerset as a child, and worked on farms, Tom is a chartered surveyor managing country estates. Alongside this, Tom runs an adventure travel business, organising crazy escapes to far flung places. Having worked in Devon in the 1990s, Tom and Suzie moved up to Buckinghamshire, but managed to find their way back here in 2014.

You may notice a subtle theme running through parts of Perry Pond Cabin. Our travels to, and love of India has been our inspiration in the ‘finish’ to the cabin. Our first ‘intro’ to India came in 1993 whilst back-packing around the world. We fell in love with the delights and chaos of this wonderful country, which started a life long ‘love affair.’ We since travel to India regularly escorting small intrepid groups into the Himalayas, finding new places and meeting local artisans and suppliers for Suzie’s business. India can leave an indelible imprint on one, and it seemed only right that this should rub off into Perry Pond cabin.
